I have a lovely family and have been successful in many areas of my life apart from one failing - I just couldn't control my weight and was fed up with yo-yo dieting. When the scales nearly tipped the 22 stone mark, and having just come back from a 'beach holiday' I knew drastic action was needed if I wanted to see my children grow up. My health was rapidly deteriorating; I was breathless, sleeping badly, falling asleep during the day and gradually get more and more depressed.
With the full support of family and friends my gastric band was fitted 2 years ago. It wasn't an easy decision to make and isn't without its difficulties (such as getting used to new eating habits), but I am so glad that I choose this option. I couldn't be happier with the results - I am 10 stones lighter whilst some of my friends are still struggling with their weight. I feel the fittest I have been in 30 years and love shopping with my daughter for clothes in 'normal' shops. I also thoroughly enjoy doing outdoor activities with my children that I just couldn't contemplate before the operation - I even went ice skating last week!
I am so grateful I took notice of the wake-up call my body was giving me and took this step to conquer my weight problem. The supportive and experienced team of Southwest Bariatric Surgery Group have really helped me get my life back on track.
